Trees

Cherry TreeTrees are the most dramatic and dominating feature in the landscape. They are used for visual screening, accent, to provide shade and as a focal point. The Cherry Tree (pictured left) blooms in late March and is a beautiful accent to any yard. The Dogwood provides beauty in both the Spring and the Fall through blossoms and foliage. The Crape Myrtle provides beautiful blossoms from July through September. The most common reason to plant a tree is for shade. Both evergreen and deciduous trees can be used to provide shade.

Oak and pal treessuch as power lines or roof lines of a neighbor's house. Very dense growing trees such as Leyland Cypress tend to work best. However, open growing trees can be used effectively if planted in a mass. Gardeners have many choices in when it comes to picking trees for both sunny and shady areas.

Trees can add significant value to your home. Trees that function as accent or focal points create a pleasing effect. The tree pictured above is a Live Oak and a Palm growing together. It is a beautiful focal point for this yard. Also, an area of color in a location can revise a colorless scene.
