Laceleaf Weeping Japanese Red Maple
Dissectum

Laceleaf Weeping Japanese Red Maple in the SpringLaceleaf Japanese red maple trees are one the most familiar maples. Laceleaf Japanese red maples are characterized by their leaf lobes, which are very narrow and serrated, giving them a lacy appearance. They are also noted for their weeping, mushroom-shaped mound that usually only grows to a maximum of 5 feet tall. The laceleaf pictured to the left is about 6 feet tall and is 40 years old. This picture reflects the spring foliage of a laceleaf maple.

Japanese laceleaf maples make excellent focal points especially as a backdrop by a pond as the one pictured above. Laceleafs come in various colors of green and red. The most common color is dark red almost burgundy.
