Joe Pye Weed
Eupatorium
Joe Pye Weed also known as Eupatorium provides wonderful color for the late summer and early fall garden. Eupatorium,Joe Pye Weed is a tall plant with beautiful purple-shaded umbrella-liked clump heads.
Joe Pye loves very moist soil and lots of sun. Since these conditions are hard to provide, I've planted Joe Pye in a very shady, wet area and also sunny, dry areas. What I have experiened is that when planted in the sun even in fairly dry conditions, the flowers ae brighter and they seem to multiply faster than when planted in a some what shady area.
Joe Pye Weed is a very showy, tall border plant with pink to purple colored flowers. Joe Pye Weed will grow to 4-6 feet tall and it can become invasive if you allow it to spread too rapidly. It should be thinned out every two years for ideal conditions. Eupatorium is a great plant choice for mid- to late summer when color is greatly appreciated in the garden.
