Clematis
Clematis is my favorite climbing vine. Clematis comes in a variety of colors ranging from deep purple to pastels and white. Also, they come in small and large flower blooms. I still haven't decided which is my favorite. I like them all.
Clematis are fairly easy to care for and they bloom most of the summer.
If you have a space problem in your garden, you might want to consider planting a Clematis to add some color. They grow nicely along a fence line, but also will wrap themselves around a pole or a trellis for support. Their tendrils need to have something to wrap themselves around and you can be creative with your choice of support. I have never tried it, but I have seen shrubs used as support for Clematis. It looks rather nice particularly if there is color contrast.
Clematis bloom from early spring to fall, depending upon the variety. So, drive around your neighborhood and look for a beautiful, colorful vine wraped around a mailbox pole or a light pole. I bet it will be a Clematis.
