| Gladiolus
Gladiolus, also known as Glads, are a wonderful mid to late-summer flower both in the garden and used in the house in floral arrangements. If you start planting Gladiolus in early may and plant a dozen every week until the first part of July, you will be able to enjoy Glads in your garden and have enough to cut to bring inside for floral arrangements.
Gladiolus come in a variety of sizes and colors. Glads should be planted in full sun. However, I find that if I plant them in a semi-shady area, it takes them longer to bloom and the blooms are smaller. But, the next year they perform better. I live in an area where you do not have to dig up the bulbs and store them. Every once in a while we will have a severe winter and many of the bulbs do not survive.
